Have you seen Blogger? As for me it is good.
You can use any of their templates as well as insert your's own HTML code.
They don't build into your's page any obligatory banners or advertising ,
you can place only what you want to see there.

why not buy a domain and shared hosting?that's not expensive ,about $60 in all.then learn to use wordpress,you can get a great blog

I will agree with Moviefrontier buy a domain name where you can go to and get one for about less than 12 dollars and then you can go to for your hosting. and use the fantastico wizard to have your site up in minutes. Now if you need training on how to setup you can google it or you can go here and learn how to do it. or you can pay someone else to do it on
