How do I promote a link?

I would like to promote an affiliate link. I am not selling a product but access to a new free review site. Can anyone tell me the correct and best way to do this? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Most simple way doing this would be posting on forums like you're doing right now (and like I'm doing myself here lol) - putting your signature (BBC Code would lead your readers to the site).
This would be best way without needing your own website.
Most common way for doing this through a website would be setting up a capture page leading your prospects (leads) to your review site. This would allow you to collect addresses of leads, thus building up a list of people you could follow up through different mailings.
